On the other hand, the transmission temperature readout (valve body temp sensor) is spot on with what is displayed (digitally). sensor data verified with an analog mechanical test gauge) all of the time. The same situation exists for my oil pressure gauge, which reads low (vs. The instrument cluster gauges only provides relative data in my case the actual coolant temperature is a good 8-12 degrees lower than what is indicated by the cluster gauge and that the gauges are not at all linear in relation to their sensor data. ![]() One thing I learned immediately about my truck was… that what the actual sensor data is, and what the instrument cluster shows, are two completely different things. #Autoenginuity scan tool softwareIt also comes with a software dyno tool that I have derived a lot of useful data from, once I got it set up correctly. You can capture as much real time data as you have free disk space and then analysis it all off line. They also make a version for PDA’s but I don’t believe that it would be as useful. What is will do for you is allow you to access every sensor and command every control point in every module of your vehicle using a Windows notebook computer, including Freeze Frame and Mode 6 data. This is not an inexpensive toy nor is it a programmer or the equivalent of a GM Scan tool. Apparently, the Duramax ECM CAN D interface is NOT very OBDII compliant and it took the Auto Enginuity folks a while to work out the software kinks, during which time their customer support was first rate. I have previously had good results using the Auto Enginuity product with “gassers” and now that they have the bugs worked out of their Duramax software/firmware you might want to take a look at this product before purchasing something similar. #Autoenginuity scan tool how toI have only used it enough to know how to be dangerous so far, but was worth the investment for me.I have not seen anyone comment on or write up anything in this Forum about this product so I thought I would share my experiences using it with a Duramax. You can also save your vehicles and data related to each vehicle along with your notes. I had a laptop that wasn't being used already so all I had to purchase was the software. It is suppose to read many generic codes without having to have the manufacture specific enhancements, but I have not tried it on anything besides the two Fords. #Autoenginuity scan tool plusPlus it offers the expand-ability to other vehicles with the same precision if needed at an affordable price. For me since I tend to work on my vehicles anyway and owning two Fords I justified the purchase by factoring in having the 2001 towed to a reputable shop or just throwing parts at it as well as any future needs that might arise needing to get these trucks scanned. Has several different key on and key off test you can run which was a help in diagnosing my 2001 7.3 since it wouldn't start. I forget right off hand how many sensors it pulled up on the 2001 7.3 truck but is was more than I would have imagined. When I was trying it out on the Excursion it pulled up like 549 different sensors and even pointed me to which backup sensor has a fault in the circuit (always knew there was something going on with it as it seemed to work sometimes and not other times). ![]() It has the capability of reading/monitoring multiple sensors on the vehicle and can read clear codes fro many different systems. #Autoenginuity scan tool fullSo far I really like it, but haven't used it enough to reach the full capabilities it has to offer. ![]() I just bought the AutoEnginuity with Ford Bundle last month to diagnose my 2001 7.3 and have played with it a few times in my 2003 Excursion as well. ![]()
